The Parish Council plays a role in every planning permission application (and conservation area/listed buildings and tree work applications).

The NFDC sends Martin Parish Council a copy of the plans of any application for a view from a local perspective. MPC looks at the plans and then makes a decision as to whether it supports or objects to the proposal. It has to report this decision with any supporting comments by the 'observation date'.

MPC receives some guidance notes from the planning officers setting out any relevant policies from the Local Development Plan and current Government advice which the application may or may not comply with.

When making its decision, Martin Parish Council takes into account such factors as:

Visual impact, scale, size of plot, character, noise, disturbance, loss of light or privacy as well as the design and materials proposed.
